MASK MONDAY: My Beauty Diary Black Pearl Masks

Sheet masks are really blowing up this year. If you're not in on the sheet mask game yet, then you need to be, because there's nothing else on the market that could quite compare to an effective sheet mask. Especially now that the summer is approaching, many of us could appreciate the cooling sensation of a sheet mask or two.

You can tell that I've been pretty committed to sheet masking too, because this is my 11th Mask Monday already. I've introduced a lot of unknown face masks lately, so here's a well-known brand for a change!

MBD (My Beauty Diary) masks are definitely one of these sheet masks that come with so much extra essence, you could cover your whole body with it! Although I personally recommend applying as much as you can on your sheet mask first to maximize the results.

The ingredient list starts off pretty common, however, it's worth noting that these masks don't include alcohol. Aloe leaf juice and sodium hyaluronate are both often used in sheet masks: aloe has healing and soothing abilities, while sodium hyaluronate is a great moisturizer. And then there are the plant extracts. Overall, the ingredient list looks good - maybe not super outstanding, but good enough.

As of 2015, MBD masks are made of new material that looks almost transparent and may remind you of hydrogel. However, it's actually still more similar to cotton. You will realize that once it starts drying. The sheet is really thin, but will stay moist for a good 40 minutes. Maybe even longer.

Compared to other masks I've tried, the MBD sheet is most similar to Laffair AQUA 3 Step Skin Renewal Mask (but cheaper!). Apart from couple of folds, it fit my face well and also adhered to my skin nicely.

I personally feel like the eye holes of this mask were dangerously small. However, small eye holes could also be good, because you get to treat your eye area too. Just remember to be careful when using these masks.

Lastly, I'm very happy with the hydrating, plumping and brightening results these inexpensive masks deliver. Although, they are not the most inexpensive masks out there, considering they are less than $2 a sheet, I think the fit and results were pretty nice.

So far, "Black Pearl" is the only MBD sheet mask I've tried, but I'm already thinking of other flavours I should potentially try.

Where to buy?
I got a box of 10 masks from Ebay for $16.99.

Have you tried My Beauty Diary's sheet masks before? Which one is your favourite?

    1. I've heard many good things about it, although I'm not sure how I feel about Swiftlet Nest on my skin. :/

  3. Nice! My friend and I were literally talking about this this week, and she told me the MBD "black one" is really good so I'm assuming it's this hahaha! I'm definitely down with this -- the moisturising aspect of this is really tempting as is the whitening ;-) I'm heading home to Asia for a visit in a couple of weeks so will have to check this out... also the added bonus of no alcohol, yay!

    1. I think so, it's one of their most popular flavours, so I figured it's worth a try. :)

Omg, sheet mask shopping in Asia sounds like heaven! I'm totally jealous. :(

  4. I love how they're really generous with the essence! And I like how their mask sheets aren't super thick and generally fit okay on my face. We have them in the Asian supermarkets here but I haven't been using these lately since I have to finish the ones I picked up from Korea still. But definitely, you can't go wrong with MBD!
