Don't Make These Beauty Mistakes If You Want To Look Great!

A lot of people make beauty mistakes without even realizing it. We often get in the habit of doing certain things, which could be affecting the quality of our skin, hair and teeth.

If you want to look your best, you need to ensure you don’t make these 6 beauty mistakes:

Not throwing out old makeup.

Many people don’t realize that makeup only lasts a few months before it needs to be replaced. They leave their lipsticks in their drawer for years and keep on using them well past their expiration date. If you do use an expired product, you are likely to irritate your skin. Not only this, but bacteria can start growing on your mascara wand, which you could then be putting on your eyes. Therefore, go through all of your makeup and check when you actually bought it. You can go and buy new makeup afterwards.

Not getting your teeth checked regularly.

Another beauty mistake that people often make is not getting their teeth checked regularly. You need to make sure you are going to the dentist at least twice a year to ensure your teeth are okay. Poor dental care can affect your smile and you will then end up dreading opening your mouth as your teeth don’t look good. The longer you wait before going could mean you end up with issues and will need natural looking tooth fillings. Therefore, you need to book in for regular check-ups to keep your smile looking beautiful.

Not removing makeup at the end of the day.

A lot of people don’t bother to remove their makeup at the end of the day. However, as this article says, you could end up doing a great amount of damage to your skin, if you don’t remove your makeup before heading to bed. You could irritate your skin and end up with breakouts. Therefore, make sure to get yourself a good makeup remover to easily remove your makeup at night.

Not cleaning your brushes.

Yet another beauty mistake a lot of women make is not cleaning their makeup brushes. If you don’t clean them after using, you will end up applying makeup with dirty brushes the next day. This could irritate your skin and cause breakouts. Not to mention, it will be hard to apply makeup perfectly, as there is already old makeup on your brush.

Not applying conditioner correctly.

Apply your conditioner correctly to ensure your hair looks it's best. A lot of people apply conditioner at the top of their head where they apply shampoo. But they should be applying it at the ends of their hair instead. As this feature says, applying conditioner the right way will save you some product and also prevent your roots from getting greasy.

Draw your eyebrows too thick/dark/unnatural.

Make sure you are also filling in your eyebrows correctly. It’s easy to make a mistake that will make your eyebrows look too heavy or intense. Here’s some advice on how to fill in your eyebrows.

  1. I am really bad at taking off my makeup before bed. Sometimes I can't be bothered and I know that's not the mentality to have! Recently I've been using Liz Earle's cleanser and because it's so lovely it makes taking off my make up a little less of a chore!

    1. I usually do take off my makeup, because there are at least one or two skin care items I want to apply afterwards! But I'm really bad at some other things 😁

  2. You've got some great tips here that will help us all to stay looking great! I always take my make up off before I go to bed, as I have bad skin I have to make sure it's part of my routine! And the same reason for cleaning my make up brushes, we don't want the bacteria on them, do we! The one I'm not very good at is throwing out old make up, I mean I don't use it but it just ends up staying at the bottom of my make up drawers for ages! :) xx

    1. I can definitely understand the last one. I sometimes just don't want to throw out old makeup, because it will immediately decrease my makeup collection that I've worked so hard to build! :( But in reality I also tend to use my newest more exciting makeup only, haha.

  3. Great post, I seriously need to have another big sort out of my makeup and yes I'm guilty of plastering my conditioner all over my hair, whoops, will try the ends next time! :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Sharon!

Conditioner is not actually designed to be applied on roots and can make your hair oily, so hopefully you'll see some improvement if you apply it on ends only! :)

  4. I've been meaning to clean my brushes all week! Thanks for giving me the push to do it! It's such a chore but it always feels lovely to apply makeup once they are clean.

  6. Thank you for your tips! This has reminded me to book in a dentist's appointment, I've been meaning to all week! I also completely agree about the importance of removing your makeup, I always wake up feeling disgusting if I haven't removed my makeup! 🙅🏻

  8. I personally spent a couple of years, when I was still a high-schooler, not removing my makeup properly after a whole day of school. Girl, my skin has still not recovered completely (and it's been nearly ten years). Now, even when I'm dead tired I thoroughly go through a cleansing routine - at least the minimal steps. It's so important to clean up makeup every single night or to simply never sleep on it...
