Breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day. However, for the majority of people, it's also the most boring one. They might grab a piece of toast on their way out of the door or quickly eat a bowl of cereal. It might satisfy their hunger for an hour or two, but it's not very nutritious. Ideally, breakfast should keep you going until lunch. If you do need anything else in the morning, it shouldn't be more than a snack. A proper breakfast should be more exciting and nutritious. Swap Boring Cereal for Oats and Muesli
A lot of people have cereal for breakfast when they wake up. However, many boxed cereals contain a lot of sugar and aren't the best choice for breakfast. Even those that are nutritious might not be enough to keep you going all morning. Plus, you can get bored of eating them all the time. Instead, you could choose something that you can experiment with. If you use oats or muesli, you can add an exciting range of toppings. Use yogurt, fruit, nuts and anything else you can think of to pimp up your breakfast.
Mix Up Your Coffee
There are differing opinions on whether coffee is good for you or not. However, many people agree that a small amount of coffee can be healthy. It's a good way to start your day, just as long as you are drinking a reasonable amount. However, only drinking a standard instant coffee isn't very exciting. There's much more you could do with your coffee each morning. For example, you could try using the best cold brew coffee maker you can find. Cold-brewing involves brewing your coffee overnight in cold water. You can then drink it cold or heat it up, and it will have a smoother flavor than regular coffee.
Find the Time to Cook
How often do you cook your own breakfast? And when you do, is it a rare, greasy breakfast for a treat? Cooked breakfast doesn't have to be something you only have once in awhile. You should have them more regularly, especially during winter to warm yourself up. For example, it only takes a couple of minutes to fry some eggs. You could also make burritos, a frittata or even pancakes! You can even prepare something in advance and heat it up in the morning or put something in the slow cooker overnight.
Enjoy a Liquid Breakfast
If you want to rush out the door but still get a nutritious breakfast, a liquid meal is ideal. You could make a smoothie, a milkshake or even enjoy some freshly-squeezed juice. The great thing about it is that you can put it in a travel mug or bottle and go out the door. You can even make it the night before, put it in the fridge and grab it in the morning.
