New Year's Resolutions: What Are The Most Common Ones?

It’s that time of year again and, no, I am not talking about Christmas. In a matter of days we are heading into a brand new year and many of us love to make new year's resolutions even if we seldom keep them, while others don't have a huge opinion on them and don't place too much emphasis on them.

Now is the time many people give at least a little thought to what they want to do the next year ahead, and it got me thinking about what the most common resolutions are.

Lose Weight

Losing weight has to be one of the most common new year’s resolutions people make. This could partly be because of overindulging during the Christmas period. Some people just want to lose a few pounds while others have a bigger goal they want to reach. Either way, in January you see a huge rise in people taking out gym memberships and signing up for different diets. My advice would be to generate a plan for sustainable weight loss and try not to expect results straight away.

Improve themselves and their appearance

Some people use new year as an excuse to make some changes to themselves. Perhaps there is a part of your body that makes you feel self-conscious or you just want to make some small improvements. You’d be surprised that many people put cosmetic enhancements and even surgery plans in their new year’s resolutions list. Whether you seek advice from a nose surgery doctor or consider a consultation for liposuction, breast enhancement or even face lift. Always make sure you do plenty of research in advance to ensure you are making the right decision.

Consider a lifestyle change

A new year is also the perfect opportunity to change your lifestyle. That might mean becoming a healthier version of yourself and exercise more regularly. Or even something that could totally transform your life like turning to veganism and becoming a vegetarian. A new year is the perfect fresh start to begin a new challenge or goal.

Travel more

Traveling is also a very common new year’s resolution especially because most people have their own bucket lists of places they want to visit. You might want to make it your goal to see a few different places next year and make the most of your time off work.

Get a Promotion

Finally, a career is very important for many people, so it's no surprise that wanting to improve your job prospects and perhaps either change career or move up the career ladder is a big new year’s resolution for many. If this sounds like something you want to consider, it’s worth setting yourself a plan to help you achieve your goals. For example, you might want to do some extra studying for necessary skills or show more initiative at your workplace.

I hope this list might help you finalise your new year’s resolutions. I would love to hear what your plans are in the comments!
