Post-Christmas Beauty Tips To Prepare You For Spring

The majority of us feel a little sluggish after Christmas. We may be carrying a few extra pounds and our skin already has that grayish winter hue. Rather than hiding behind layers of clothing and makeup, tackle your beauty regimen. By the time spring arrives you’ll feel refreshed, rejuvenated and glowing.

Take a good look in the mirror. How is your complexion? Do you have any problem areas such as oily patches, spots or dried skin? If so, take necessary steps to fix them. Outward beauty always begins with what you put into your body. If you have blemishes, this could be down to your diet. For example, refined sugar, caffeine and dairy products can have an impact on your skin. Experiment with removing certain foods from your diet and see if this helps to improve the situation.

Drink plenty of water each day. This helps to rehydrate your whole body and flush out toxins. It also helps skin to appear a little plumper, filling out faint lines and providing a more youthful appearance. For issues that diet and exercise can’t tackle, such as the natural aging process, there are several cosmetic procedures that can enhance your appearance. Always find a reputable practitioner such as

Review your beauty regimen and ensure you stick to it daily without fail. Take the following into consideration:

  • Remove your makeup each night before you go to bed.
  • Cleanse and tone your skin daily.
  • Invest in a good moisturizer.

There is a lot we can do for our bodies during winter months. Diet and exercise are important to maintain good health. If you need to shed a few holiday pounds, now is the time to address this. Don’t wait until spring.

One of the problems with winter is that as we wrap up warm, our body is hidden behind lots of layers. This is partly to blame for that grayish winter complexion. Cold weather and central heating also have a drying effect on skin, making it flaky and itchy. To counteract this, try exfoliating once every few weeks. It’s a quick and simple process with instant results.

Before getting into the shower, rub your body all over with an exfoliating brush. This will help to loosen some of the dead skin cells. Once in the shower, massage your skin with a sponge or flannel in a circular motion. Dry thoroughly and apply a generous layer of body lotion. Repeat this every few weeks as needed. If you don’t like the pale look, apply a little fake tan to enhance your skin tone. Exfoliating will also help to achieve an even coverage.

Little perks

If you dread the long, dark days and yearn for spring, put a few strategies in place to help you make it through. Invest in a good winter coat and boots that you feel confident in. Get a haircut and book in a massage or a facial. Make sure you have plenty of things in place to look forward to. Get into meditation or yoga. Sites like can help you get started.

The winter may seem long, but it will soon be spring. Make the most of those dark days by revamping your beauty regimen. The changes you make now will ensure you emerge from your winter slumber looking refreshed, youthful and ready for summer.
