What to Pack for a Summer Trip to Europe

Southern Europe is a great destination for a quick end-of-summer getaway. There’s so much to see on the continent and the weather is still warm even in September. Why not cash in on the little time you have left and extend your summer a bit? And don't forget to bring your cutest summer dresses, sandals, rompers and sunglasses! The question is - how many should you pack?

Packing can be such a hassle. Especially if you are planning to travel with hand luggage only. When it comes to clothing, the general rule is that you should take as little with you as possible and then mix and match what you've brought.

Of course, the actual amount of clothes you need may vary depending on how long you are travelling for. However, here's a little something I put together to give you some inspiration:

What to Pack for a Summer Trip to Europe

Here's a rundown of what should go in your suitcase:

  • 1 cute summer dress.
  • 1 romper.
  • 3 summer tops or shirts.
  • 2 bottoms - 1 pair of shorts and 1 pair of long pants (jeans, leggings, etc.) When we went to Milan I didn't wear my leggings at all during the trip, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Which brings me to my next point...
  • 1 jacket (not pictured) - In case it's colder during nighttime.
  • swimwear. Even if you are not sure whether you would need it or not, always bring your swimwear!
  • sunglasses. Obviously.
  • 2 pairs of shoes. Because we all love variety when it comes to taking holiday outfit photos.
  • You favourite handbag + a backpack or a crossbody bag. I love throwing everything I need to my handbag, but it's much easier to carry a light bag when travelling and exploring new places.
  • Accessories. In my case it would be a bunch of chokers, but you might want to go for something different. Just take whatever you like the most.
Tip: Wear your heaviest pair of shoes to the airport in order to save space and minimize baggage weight.

  1. I'm a big fan of packing lightly (ish haha) and mix & matching! I often find myself putting together more creative outfits than if I had tons and tons of choices! I love the pieces you have picked out - they're perfect for a European summer <3

    1. That often happens to me too! Thanks for your comment, btw. :)
